Then it is necessary to look back on the past, in view to understand from where this certainty comes, in other words what is the single benefit of the faith and the means to be used, for expecting to let it to them. The first religious remembrance of my early childhood is a small month of Mary with some candles and the flowers in front of the holy image on the chimney of my room. That had seemed to me marvellous and I still have a sharp impression of it. In spite of the middle-class religious education of this time, I was not  specially disposed towards devotion. Christian scout education did not mark me very greatly, if not which I did not arrive to miscount my Good Deeds. It is however thanks to the intervention of the scout chaplain that I had been able to do my first communion at the school. Indeed the abbot who prepared us there, ordered some terrible written theological duties which were my obsession. I tried nevertheless to tell this priest that Jesus did not ask that; he was satisfied to answer perhaps me that indeed He did not ask it but that he asked in any event to obey. I did not have anything any more to say if not to measure the antipathy who separated us him and me.
